Getting Around, Tobago Travel and Tobago Transport
(Tobago, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, TT)
The island of Tobago relies heavily upon tourism, and so it has developed a very comprehensive transport network, with a major international airport next to Crown Point. Roads link the main beaches, resorts and towns on Tobago and allow tourists to easily travel to their chosen destination, by either car, taxi or local government-run bus transport.
Island hopping between Trinidad and Tobago is provided by local ferry transport. Local ferries travel between Scarborough and the Port of Spain from Sunday through to Friday, carrying both passengers and cars, and despite the distance covered, are really very affordable.

Tobago Travel and Transport: Travel by Bus and Coach - Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago, TT
Unless you choose to rent a car, air-conditioned bus transport is really the only affordable way to travel around Tobago. Frequent PTSC (Public Transport Service Corporation) buses connect all of the main places of interest and travel between Scarborough and Crown Point, as well as to the resorts of Buccoo, Plymouth and also Roxborough. Punctuality is not really a strong point of the buses on Tobago and so do be prepared for a wait.
Tobago Travel and Transport: Travel by Taxi - Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago, TT
'Maxi' taxis are always popular on Tobago and these private minibuses are capable of transporting up to 30 passengers at once. Offering a very different travel experience to public buses, maxis are much more relaxed in their nature, collecting and dropping passengers when requested and not at specified stops. Maxis tend to be white in colour, with a bold stripe along the side, and so are easy to spot.
Tobago Travel and Transport: Travel by Ferry - Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago, TT
Many ferries and cruise ships operate around the island's extensive coastline and link most places of interest.
The twin islands of Tobago and Trinidad are linked by regular ferry transport, which takes around four hours. For a little more money, there is now a high-speed catamaran service (Sea Cat), where the journey time is halved.
